The Eufy RoboVac X8 is the brand new robot vacuum from the brand that stands out with some powerful features. The twin turbines offer a suctional force of 2000Pa each, making it one of the strongest robot vacuum cleaners in the town. With its powerful suctional pressure, the X8 sweeps of dust, pollens, and pet hair within a jiffy. There is the AI-based mapping and LIDAR navigation that is unmatched. The iPath Laser Navigation uses the laser to scan your home. It efficiently maps a suitable route to start the route cleaning. You can virtually set up a cleaning map via the EufyHome app and that’s where I was left dumbstruck. Dust compression is an important aspect when it comes to robot vacuums. The better the dust compression ratio the better will be the ability of vacuum suction and that makes the whole difference. The RoboVac X8 combines what it is called the UltraPack Dust Compression. This in fact has increased the X8’s dust box volume utility by almost 100%. The Eufy RoboVac X8 surely has what it takes to be your next best smart robot vacuum. It comes with an improved suction rate, better mapping, and LIDAR-based navigation. Let’s get to know the X8 in terms of its specifications. Take a look at the overall hardware specs of the Eufy RoboVac X8.
Design
The RoboVac X8 is compact enough and can tackle any corner with relative ease. The one that I got has an eye-catchy glossy black texture with red and blue accents all over. The top of the vacuum includes a small set of press buttons, the LIDAR sensor, and a WiFi status light. The LIDAR or the Laser Distance Sensor is the central unit that takes care of mapping and navigation. With the iPath Technology, I would certainly say that the mapping ability has been increased for good. The only thing that I felt bad about was the position of the sensor. It looks quite odd and outdated. Near to the LIDAR sensor, you’ll find touch-enabled buttons that are pretty much handy. There is a recharge button that lets the RoboVac X8 return to its charging base. Adjacent to it, you’ll find the Auto Clean Start/Stop button. Right next to the set of buttons, you’ll find the WiFi Status Light. It lights up green when you’ve connected it with your smartphone via WiFi. Coming to the sides of the RoboVac X8, you’ll find the front IR sensors as well as the Wall sensors. They’re pretty much essential to formulate a virtual map of your home. The laser mapping and navigation utilizes all these sensors to make the most efficient cleaning path around your map. Unlike the LIDAR sensor, the collector unit is nicely positioned. The X8 comes with UltraPack Dust Compression. Thanks to this, I didn’t really have to empty the dust collector quite often. But yet, it depends on the cleaning surface and the suction mode. At the bottom is where the battery and the rolling brush are fixed. The charging contact pins that align with the charging base when docked are also at the rear. Another thing that I felt quite odd is that the X8 features only a single rotating side brush. Taking account of the price tag RoboVac X8 comes with, I do feel it as a downside of its design. And that too fixed with a screw instead of push-pop or magnet attach design. The height of the RoboVac X8 is around 9.5cm, which is slightly higher than its rivals in the segment. The robot vacuum struggles with low-profile furniture. You will be in luck if you own a sofa as I do with enough room to pass the robot beneath it. Still, the height will be a problem in many other cases, especially in the living room area. While the height was a problem, the overall size of the robot vacuum is compact and that helps it to sneak through any spaces inside the home. Under the chairs are no longer left unclean. RoboVac X8 has been going in and out between the chair legs like a breeze.
Voice Prompts and Alerts
Voice alerts in Eufy RoboVac X8 are worth mentioning here. Apart from the usual voice controlling using your Alexa or Google Assistant speakers, RoboVac does have a talkback feature. This is a real lifesaver compared to the beeping alerts I get from the usual vacuums I have. They all have alarms that go off when some error occurs or tasks are finished. You will have to check through the app again to see what it is. It is not the case with RoboVac’s voice alerts. The robot has voice alerts that talk instead of simply beeping. Initial Setup
The RoboVac X8 is pretty simple to set up. Be it the normal physical setup or the app-based setup, the X8 doesn’t really include any tedious installation. Once the X8 is charged, you can start operating the device even before you set up the app. For configuring and connecting the X8 with my phone, I installed the Eufy Home app right from the App Store. Believe me, the app-based setup is just a piece of cake. On the Eufy Home app, tap on “Add Device” and select Robotic Vacuums. From the drop-down menu, select the RoboVac X8. Once that’s done, you’ll have to press and hold the “Start” button for 3 seconds. Once switched on, the RoboVac scans and automatically connects with your smartphone via WiFi. The app offers pretty much every info related to the X8. From cleaning schedules, maps, and zone settings you can access every bit of stuff right at your fingertips. We’ll be talking about the Eufy Home app and its features as we go on.
Performance and Suction
With all the initial setups done and dusted, it’s time to see whats the RoboVac really capable of. I was able to put it through some testing to find out its suction and cleaning action. The RoboVac X8 vacuum cleaner got a really good navigational and mapping ability that’s unmatched when compared to its rivals. The onboard LIDAR sensor gives a 3D idea of your home and in turn, lets the RoboVac build a real-time layout of your home. Within seconds the X8 learns the layout and determines the most efficient map to clean efficiently. The LiDAR-based mapping and efficient routing have in fact made it easy for the X8 to do its work pretty well and in an organized manner. The LIDAR sensor, as well as the IR sensor, works hand in hand to give you the best possible vacuum cleaning action. I also noticed that the mapping setup never missed even the smallest corners. This helped the X8 in minimizing the chances of improper vacuum cleaning. The AI Map Technology makes it easy to customize cleaning patterns. Within the app, you’ll see an option to create a no-zone or a temporary cleaning zone within no time. You can use the map to restrict the X8 from entering specific zones and that’s pretty much innovative. You can even see the real-time progress of the X8 cleaning procedure even when you are not home. Eufy RoboVac X8 vacuum can identify carpets or hard floors. Depend on the debris, the Eufy RoboVac X8 automatically adjusts its suction speed and vacuum action. There are four suction modes you can choose from the app based on the cleaning intensity. This includes Pure, Turbo, Max, and BoosterIQ. Out of the 4, the Max was noisy Whereas the Pure mode was barely heard. See our noise level test with the Eufy RoboVac X8 below. For instance, 60dB is the normal talking noise level inside the room. Looking at the numbers and actual test experience, we don’t see much of an issue with the suction noise coming out of RoboVac X8. The BoosterIQ is something that I found to be pretty good than the other 3 suction modes. It’s because the X8 can adjust the suction power depending on the floor. The X8 does better on the carpet floor than on the hard floor. With its ability to climb up to 18mm, RoboVac did not hesitate a bit to go over my rug. Apart from the preset cleaning routines, there is the spot clean feature. It is helpful to clean a small area thoroughly in the case of a spill or dust accumulation. The dust collector bin is also at the side. When it comes to dust collection, the Eufy RoboVac X8 manages to do a pretty good job. I would say it’s the best but manages to clean up over 90% of the debris during its full cycle. A thing to notice is how it handles the pet hair. While most robot vacuums do not work full swing around pet hairs, RoboVac X8 does a decent job here. The benefit of the dust compression technique comes to light when you use the X8 on a daily basis. Even though Eufy warns us to clean the dust collector at the end of the day, but I could be able to keep it for another couple of days.
Maintenance
Having a robot to clean your floor is a handy thing to have, but comes at the cost of periodic maintenance. It requires you to clean off the dust box, clean filters, replace brushes, and even checking the wheels for any stuck hairs. Eufy RoboVac X8 is no different than this. However, Eufy makes this much easier with the app alerts. The dust box can be pulled out from the sides. It can carry a max of 600ML of dust. With the extra dust compression it offers, Eufy RoboVac X8 can run without any dust box cleaning for 2-3 days. The dust filter is not of HEPA standard but it is washable and quite easy to handle. Many robot vacuums come with non-washable filters, which makes cleaning a menace. Eufy does a good job with the filter in this case.
App Controls and Smart Home
The Eufy Home app is pretty easy to set up and configure. The app provides access to almost all the intelligent features including custom room maps, real-time cleaning progress, and many more. With the app in your hand, you can set up specific maps and prompt the RoboVac X8 to initiate the cleaning of specific areas. The intelligent floor and room detection, thanks to the iPath technology makes it easy for you to control the vacuum cleaner. You can create no-go zones, watch live cleaning, route, and many more. Once the routine cleaning is done, the RoboVac returns to its charging base. At this point, you can save and keep a log of the cleaning progress right within the app. You can also find the detailed cleaning report of each day right from the app. Other features like the BoostIQ can also be initiated from the app. You can even prompt the X8 to start a routine cleaning process even if you arent at home. Another thing which I loved the most is that you can check the health status of the filters and brushes. With this, you can keep an eye on the working conditions of the side brush, rolling brush, and filters in due time. There is also the sensor status that shows the ability of the sensors and prompts whenever calibration is required.
Battery and Charging
With its inbuilt 5200mAh internal battery, the Eufy RoboVac X8 can run up to two and half hours on a single charge on average. But keep in mind that that the Max and the BoosterIQ modes drain out a big chunk of battery power. The battery tests gave me a near 160 minutes back up and once the low battery signal was up, it just paused its routine and docked itself in the charging base that will take shy of 4 hours to full charge. Once docked, the X8 takes around 5 hours to fully charge up. After being fully charged, the device returns back to where it was previously and continues its routine with full throttle. The X8 simply fills itself up, reinitiates the routine, and follows the same cycle without our notice.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 compared to its older version truly stand out. What makes it a great piece of homecare device is that it is highly reliable on quality and versatile when it comes to features. At the price tag it comes with, the RoboVac X8 is Eufy’s most priced Vacuum cleaner yet but owing to the fact that the RoboVac does a pretty neat job makes me fall in love with it. The enhanced suction, dust compression, and intelligent mapping are all worth every penny. For me, the RoboVac X8 does hold an upper hand compared to its rivals.
